This the season...the light actually helped the crook see inside your truck to determine what he wanted.

Thereby proving once and for all that there is really NO limit to stupidity. Stealing the Garmin but leaving the mounting bracket and power cord, what a numb-nuts.

The Thief was in need of a fix? Figured the GPS was worth a lot of money at the pawn shop.
90% of the time we don't think of these things but wife reminds me when, we park somewhere new or a shopping mall to put things in the floor where they can't be seen or in the back.
Dark glass would be good but we aren't allowed.
We had them break, in the both doors and rear sliding glass, in ou 01 Dodge Diesel in Phoenix even after I ran them off, or though I did, at a restaurant.
They took our medicines and insulins and clothes but left a new Nikon camera in the floor. They took the camera case.
In perception of the rising poverty rate we can expect more theft and burglary every where.

Actually, there was nothing visible. The GPS was inside the closed center console.

If the mount was visible, that's often an invitation to thieves that the GPS may be tucked away somewhere inside.

One can buy a half-decent GPS unit at Walmart for a hundred bucks or less...

What you've got to be concerned with now is that he's gotten away with it and he'll probably be back.

Hoppefully you made a Police report, even if it is only over the phone, get an incident number even if they do not make a written report, then check with the pawn shops and when you find the unit let the Police know where it is, do not let the pawn shop operator know that the unit you examined is yours, or that it is a stollen unit, DO NOT ALERT THEM TO THIS AT ALL, they will hide the unit.

Instead call the Police and have them acompany you to claim your property, they have to give you the unit back, they do not want to be charged with accepting stollen property and they may even point the Police to the idiot(s).

Also have the serial number handy so that you can show and prove that indeed it is your unit, as for the power supply, you can purchase them at any Walmart also take pictures of the mounting and the power supply and if you have one of the unit on the console even better.
