It is done all the time, I have had to do that with a badly rusted padlock once myself..

Cut off wheels make very quick work of hardened steel shanks used in padlocks..

TAKE YOUR BATTERIES WITH YOU when putting it into storage, that will REDUCE greatly the amount of damage and loss you will end up with when a determined thief decides they like your stuff..

Yes, it is a pain, but in the end much less stress about what you might find the next time.

Thanks for your opinion ... But, I maintain that any security is better than none. In my specific case the perp would have simply moved down the line of campers to the next one with unsecured batteries. Mine were chosen because they were new and easy.

The BEST "security" is out of sight, out of mind.. You got lucky this time because it was a "easy pick".. The next "perp" may not be such a "causal" thief.. Locking things down may actually create the opposite affect and the next perp just might take out some aggression on your trailer or even worse, make off with your ENTIRE TRAILER..

Personally, I suspect your storage yard manager is crooked or at least had some part in the theft and is hiding the perp intentionally. They know something and this matter should have been turned into the Police.

I don't think it is the end of your woes.

The theft of your batteries was merely a theft of convenience so your solution to prevent this from happening again is appropriate despite what the naysayers may claim. My security-gated storage lot manager has a good idea who the thief is. No way he would have the inclination to cut locks. Especially with so many other easy targets close by. The suspected perp, BTW, no longer has access to the facility.

Hmmm not sure how you can be so sure of that since padlocks are simple to cut off
