Man, you must be old! If you saved several hundred a year, say 300, and a new toad costs, say $25k, that means you have to save up for 83 years! Ok, shave a year or two off for interest. :B

AMICA is pretty picky about new customers and tries to limit their exposure (and keep rates low) by accepting those with better driving histories. Additionally, AMICA is a mutual insurance company so, based upon the annual claims paid, you generally receive a refund/rebate which further lowers the cost.
One last thought. If you have multiple items insured with AMICA (cars, boats, house, etc) you have a built-in discount so, if you find your overall insurance premiums increasing, just call them and go through each covered item(policy) and shift the burden to them to make sure you come up with the correct/reasonable coverage/cost. They're great to work with and have structured our coverage so it makes it extremely difficult to switch to another insurer based only on cost. We've had a few claims over the 45 years we've been insured with AMICA - some my fault some others - but our premiums have always been extremely competitive.
We're at $800/yr with $500 deductible and full coverage based on a $75K replacement value. Probably not the cheapest but, after having a major dysfunction recently putting the MH away (to the tune of $10.5K) AMICA took it in stride and dealt directly with the shop.

I'm kind of surprised that, given the number of folks on this forum who state they'd pay more for a "quality" rv and complain about customer service of CW, etc, everyone here is talking about buying insurance based strictly on price. Not all insurance companies are created equally!

I'm one of those that has had the same insurance company since the late 90's. I've had a number of claims over the years, only one of them a collision that was my fault. Each year, the insurance company sends out a dividend check, and the year I had an at-fault accident it was no different. My rates have never gone up based on any claim.

Beware that some will try to install junk yard or after market parts. With a previous insurance company I was hit while parked in a lot. Wasn't even in the car. It was 6 months old and the insurance company insisted on installing a junk yard part. The best I could do is work with the body shop to ensure the part was absolutely pristine. Much better, I guess, than if they tried to install an ill-fitting after market part.

A friend hit a deer on a trip out of state. His cut-rate insurance company told him to pay for the repair and they would reimburse him. Huh?

My neighbor backed into my legally parked truck. Clearly her fault, and it even stated so in the police report. I chose to go through my insurance company, pay the deductible, and get reimbursed when her insurance company (geico) paid the claim. It took geico five months to pay the claim! And it was her fault!

The body shop I deal with is highly rated, and is one of my insurance company's preferred places, even though I can choose any shop I want. He told me some insurance companies take so long to pay him that he tells customers who have these companies they will have to pay him up front and get reimbursed. Notably, Progressive is the absolute worst in this regard, according to him.

Let's talk customer service. When calling my insurance company, the longest I've ever waited to speak to an agent was three minutes, and I've always been satisfied. How many can make that claim? On top of that, my insurance company's rates are highly competitive.

I had a knock down drag out fight with State Farm after a huge hail storm in my brand new development. Houses built at same time with same materials....all around me getting free roof replacements and I was told I had no need....even though my vinyl siding was cracked and much of that had to be replaced.

They send a one story crew out the first time after I told them it was a 2 story, didn't even go up onto part of it and said it was fine. I called upset, they told me well send another crew out...I told them to make sure they send a 2 story crew. Guess what? Another one story crew and 2 more weeks delay.

Next guy, supervisor, finally shows up says it's obvious it's damaged not sure why they needed him. Paid for siding, roof, even deck and garage door damage I didn't see. It just made me grumpy as I had just moved 1,000 miles away and had to fight 2 months to get it fixed while trying to sell the house and manage repair from new location. No help at all from local agent, didn't even go to bat for me I had to call State Farm directly...even though agent had several other houses hit by the same storm.

We have used State Farm for 38 years. Cars, Classic cars, Homeowners, Business( rental properties), RV, motorcycle, personal property and umbrella liability. Several times we have gone to Brokers to review and have not been able to beat the over-all package. FWIW, State Farms life insurance is way overpriced, so we went elsewhere.

I will add:
I did go online and verified that you can get the same coverage that I now have for the same amounts and the same time period. The difference is greater than before. I now pay $365/year with Auto-Owners for agreed value but Flo is going to give me a bargain at $1292/year. Thanks but no thanks.
