Dash Cam Mounting on Vertical Windshield?

All,

I have been looking at dash cams for my Journey. Can most of these be mounted vertical windshield? I am looking at the VIOFO A-119A, but it is designed for a slanted windshield.

I would love to see pictures of peoples dash cam mountings if you have them, and any advice on what seems to be a good option for a Class A!

thanks,

jeff

I use one of these on the dash.
The camera mounts to the center like it would to glass and the whole pad is weighted so it stays in place--mostly. My truck has a cloth dash mat so this thing really stays in place on it. The one on the SUV tends to ride up to the window if the road gets bumpy since the dash slopes toward the front. I should say my camera automatically changes the camera screen to make the up at the top which ever way the camera is mounted. Not all cameras have this feature from what I have read.

Thanks for the idea. I have my GPS mounted on the dash with one of these, but had to fasten it down as the dash is slanted towards the windshield. I think I really want to go with a windshield mount this time.

Our KDLink mounts on a flat windshield just fine.

Thanks! I have that on my list to compare with the others.

    We use the KDLink also.

That's two of you with KDlink! I'm considering that one!

    Thanks,

Our Blackvue has a bracket with double stick tape that will mount on any surface. The camera slides into it and can be rotated 360 degrees to accomodate any window slant.

I was looking at this one, would love to have it, but a bit pricey for me.

    Thanks,

I just set mine on the dash, your so high anyway you need to aim the camera down to see the road in front of you.

    John,

THanks. I will consider that, but am leaning towards the window mount.

I bought a couple dash cams...RV and car. They used that sticky gel on their windshield mounts and that stuff got melted by the sun. Leaving a sticky mess everywhere. No way to fix them either.

So went to Amazon and tried to find a universal that would fit both the highly slanted car and the nearly vertical RV windows. And this is what I found. Works on both, and in the car, when I'm towing it, I can easily turn it around and face the camera backwards.

One little problem is that my cams have the off/on button on the top so the clamping arm of the window mount interferes with it. But I just shift the cam over 1/2" and that solves it. Clamp really holds well. Never had the cam fall out or the suction cup let go.

Anyway, here's what it looks like: Camera Windshield Mount

Thanks much! This really does open up the options.

I don't like those suction mount things on the windshield. they seem to put permanent circles on the glass.

I know what you mean. Our cars all have those circles!
