I read the detailed info on Dash Cam Talk, then on YouTube watched the videos by "Techmoan" and decided he was right. A dash cam needs to be simple, no GPS or G-sensors (Bump Detector). Just good video with date and time stamping.
I purchased a G1W-C from FoxOffer with 32gig card, mirror mount, and camera for $92 free shipping from China. The C stands for capacitor which holds the camera long enough to close the file without corruption. You'll be lucky to have battery last a year before its bad, or dead and corrupts the files because they won't close right when you turn off the key and you don't know the battery is bad.
We'll see if I made the right decision. I sure was not going to put a GoPro $300 camera on my dash and connect and disconnect it for something other use. All I need is a dash cam that goes on and off with the key and is simple and reliable. We'll find out.
