day night shades

where can I find the small plastic bobbins that the day night shade strings wrap around to adjust tension .

The original OEM bobbin has a slot to capture the string after you've pulled it nice and tight and wrapped it around the bobbin a few times. A screw wouldn't have that so you'd be looking at using some other method.

Another reason to use a bobbin (OEM or sewing bobbin) is that as the RV travels, the shades move, sway and get jerked around. A smooth plastic bobbin prevents string breakage you'd likely get from a rough metal screw.

and at any local camping store they all carry them. They come in a repair kit with the strings etc. Good kit to have on hand in the RV.

  • A metal sewing machine bobbin works perfectly, and does not break like the plastic items used by the rv manufacturer.

  • I used plastic sewing machine bobbins. I also found out that if you tie the cord together and just slip it over the bobbin, the tension is perfect. May have to retie it a couple of times, but I got it on first try.
  • I've ordered cord and parts here a couple times: http://www.dirtyblindman.info/
