Yeah, my day/nite shades took somewhat of a 'dump' too, strings broke/unraveled and were NEVER level. Replaced with cellular pull down shades from Budget Blinds. We too have the darkened tint on windows so the daytime shade is really not that important to us. Have not taken a trip yet (will do in about a month), but plan on traveling with blinds UP..if does not work will figure out some kind of velcro strip thingy and travel with them down. Very satisfied with the job, makes it look like we even gained SPACE...
