My experience does not show a justification for any generic formula on markup. I sort of guess that the MH I just traded in will get an initial markup in excess of 30 to 40%. It was well cared for, low mileage, and if I wanted to sell privately based on NADA that is where I would set the price. I just saw a used 2014 at the FMCA rally with all the bells and whistles selling significantly below market. The history of the MH was known, the previous owners wanted out, and the dealer wanted a quick turnover during the Rally. I sort of know the salesguy so I will take the story at face value. Certainly not priced at 25%. So two stories, out of thousands of RV sales. The implication is the dealer will seek a profit, the buyer wants a fair price, and the market will rule.
