I've never had a flat tire on my PW either but have had to change the tire numerous times due to the Hankrook tires separating and tires that have failed in general. On the Ford chassis the spare is stored underneath and in front of the rear bumper. There is a cable holding the tire that can be lowered to the ground via a cranking mechanism. No, the spare tire is not light by any means but is always appreciated when needed. The alternative of waiting on the side of the road in the boonies for "someone" to come rescue you is not my cup of tea. Cell phone service is not always available and the tow truck that AAA or Good Sam sent may not have the right size tire to replace the damaged one. I gotta have a spare tire!
