Detroit 6v92 and Allison 764 combo

First off thanks for any advice. I am interested in an older motorhome with this combo. The engine has over 125k on the clock, the transmission supposedly rebuilt. Any info from forum memb who have had or have this powertrain? I worked on detroits very briefly in the Seabees back in the '80's. (Navy). What I remember was they were rather simple to maintain, drank more fuel than the four strokes out at the time but comparable weight for weight. Been too long to remember much else.

Will this engine be tough to find mechanics for? The ones I see have the silver version with the DDEC electronix. I have no knowledge of what that does or if it can be maintained with common equipment, but I assume it is a simpler system than what's on my HUEI pumped C7. (Which after I replaced the HUEI pump at 42 k has been trouble free, now at 73k)

If I do buy the 6v92, are smog laws closing it down? What kind of costs am I looking at for a rebuild, and how long do they last given factory maintenance followed?

Any troubles with the Allison? Normal to fail around 100k? Assuming non transysnd transmission, thanks.

Looking at this coach as something to keep a loonngg time. We're riders, off road and street, but also use the coach to tour around.

Thanks,

Chuck
