These diesels are essentially the same ones that all the OTR trucks are running for 500K+ miles. The difference is probably maintenance practices. One example is that when I bought mine the dealer pointed out the air filter gauge in the engine compartment and told me not to change it until the line gets into the red. I later find out on these forums that the filters really are "generally" only good for 2 years. That they can literally start coming apart at the seems because the glue breaks down. When that happens the engine gets dust in it and causes expensive repairs. Does this happen every time, no! Is it something that I want to change every 2 years at a minimum? Yes! If someone doesn't know that or have experience with diesels they may have a problem. That goes for other things, slack adjusters, oil hubs, lubricating drive shafts and others here that know more than my meager newbie self knows can continue. I think you get the idea though.
On edit I should note that I love my DP and would not trade it for any level of gasser.
X1 :) As I always told my daughter, "Your car/truck will treat you like----- you treat it":):)
