Diesel generator.

I have a 2003 National Tradewinds. When I start the generator it dies and when I start it again it seems to be ok. Could it be a fuel filter or what? This has happened three or four times in the past 3 months. Also would it hurt to spray the gen with simple green and rinse it off. That is what I do with my car engines when they get dirty. Thanks.

    I had a similar problem with my generator that no one could find. If it sat for a while, it would start very rough and run rough for a minute or so. Finally one place found the bleeder valve in the fuel line was ajar. So as it sat, air got into the line. It now runs perfectly.

    My propane generator did the same thing on my previous coach. Would run for a few seconds, on restart it would run all day. Just the first crank of the day especially if it had been a while since starting it up.

    Don't know, My regular RV repairman only repairs the box problems not the motor or chasses,
