The bottom line for me is, "it is what it is." I fuel up when I need it, and don't sweat out paying a few pennies per gallon more if I have to. It's just less stressful for me.
That's almost as true for gas as well. However, generally, if you are looking for pricing in the area you will get a pretty good feel. For diesel I am generally going to pay the higher Flying J price and their website is very accurate. I don't need a $1000 scrape in the side of my bus to save $0.10/gallon (or $.30)!
