None of the issues you're having are normal, not even close to being normal.
With that said, our second MH (Fleetwood Flair gasser) was a wicked money pit. The silver lining on that was we spent so much in repairs it let us know we really could afford a new one. The Fleetwood went down the road, we ordered our first new Newmar. That was 1999 and we haven't looked back since.
The fire was localized to the electric hydraulic motor and the wiring. It did not get outside the compartment.
Are there any other wires in the area that may be related?
