I have a diesel generator. It is loud and stinks. The LP sets may be marginally quieter. I would sit inside an RV with the generator running (diesel and LP) before taking the plunge and decide how often you will use it. Also stand outside the RV with them running. I have taken to using a Honda EU1000 for charging when boondocking as it is much quieter than the on board generator (and it doesn't stink). If I was to do it all over again, I'd get LP and use the savings towards solar and a small generator...maybe converted/plumbed into a quick connection on the RV LP system.
