Dinete to reclining chairs? Anyone done this before?

Hello All,
Me and my wife are really starting to use the 24 foot RV more and more these days, and are beginning to understand that it would be alot better to remove the dinette seat and install a couch or a set of recliners in its place. The dinette is not comfortable nor really used much at this point. I looked under the benches in the dinette seats and see our fresh water tank is on one side and the converter and fuse panel is on the other, can it still be done (installing a couch or recliners) in this same area?

Thanks all for your help
Rick

  • Saw just such a project a few years ago on this forum. Perhaps if you do a forum search you can find the thread.

My old TT had the fresh water tank in a "box" and the sofa sat on top. It was great because in cold weather camping, the interior of the trailer kept the water supply from freezing.

I'm with you on the dinette. The Phoenix Cruisers have the option of a sofa that converts into lounge chairs and a removable table that seats in the floor for meals.
  • Hello All,
I have a small chair accross the dinette unit, I thought I saw a couch somewhere where there is room behind it for a water tank, I could also do like the previous poster said, just make a U-Shaped couch

    Thanks all,
    Rick
  • Do you have anything in the area across from the dinette? there was a couch in mine on that side which I removed and installed two recliners Not much work and a lot more comfortable
  • It would be difficult, but not impossible, to move the water tank and electrical. Lots of work is involved to move all that equipment. You probably do not have room for it elsewhere in your rig. Could you just remove the table and reconfigure to a u-shaped sitting arrangement incorporating the benches already there?
