Thanks for your great suggestions, guys. I followed y'all's suggestions and glued and screwed a 2x2 to the table. I will screw the 2x2 to the wall just under the trim piece. I lose the ability to convert to a tiny bed, but have only used it twice in 6 or 7 years and it will be MUCH sturdier...I should not have to do it again!
