Monaco made some good coaches during that time frame and the HR Diplomat qualifies. It was one up from the least expensive diesel (Neptune), but a good combination of quality and price. The ISL was an upgrade of the ISC engine and the only problem with the ISL I'm aware of is the one willpower mentioned about the wrist pins. It was a Cummins issue, not a Monaco or HR issue. Monaco also had problems with the trailing arms connecting the rear axle to the frame, as the arms were too weak. The only good option was to replace the arms with those made by an after market company, not those made by Monaco. I don't know if the Diplomat was included in that trailing arm problem. Probably by now the coach, if it did have these weak arms, already had them replaced. I wish I could remember which coaches and which years had those defective trailing arms. Sorry.
