Dish newbies, could use some help ...

Hello,

Today we setup a new Tailgater & Wally receiver, have it activated, and are facing a steep learning curve.

Being full-timers, our Dish home base is Houston because we use Escapees mail service. So, here we are in So. Florida, and Dish thinks we're in Houston and won't let us watch programs in our local time frame.

Is there a simple way to indicate to their system where you are at any moment?

  • I have the Winegard DISH Traveler andwe had a lot of trouble setting up when we were on the road. Now, I have found that if you don't turn off the box, there is no trouble when you set up.
    We have DISH at home and a box fulltime in the MH and it's paid for, so all we have for the is the monthly line charge. Since we use the coach at least once a month, it is cheaper than the vacation hold they have.
  • For any lurkers, this is also true of DirecTv.

    Using chat is easiest. No need to mention you are in a RV. Just tell them to change your service address (and not your billing). If you go the chat route online, make sure you drill down to Tech Support, not Billing, before starting the chat.

    Have your RV parks address and zip, along with your Acct# like jorbill2or mentions.
  • Put together a script and use chat then copy the script when they ask what you want to the chat box 5 min and your done

    I am in a RV and
    I have changed locations. The satellite dish and receivers have been set up and are working.
    So that I can receive the local channels in our new location. Please change my SERVICE address to

    (Address you want to use )

    Please be sure to delete the old local channel location.

    My billing address does not change.

  • Agree. Just call and say you are in your RV and currently located at ( zip code) and you want to change your service address. Many claim using Dish chat is even easier.
  • If you have Dish and have traveled away from your last destination where you were receiving local stations, you have to contact Dish a let them know where you are at and that you wish to receive the local stations from that area. They will ask for an address and zip code of the area. Then they will spot beam you the signal.
  • Call dish and change your address. Keep billing address in TX. But service address can be where you are.
