Dish Sat. Spot Beam Question

Question for those that understand Sat. spot beams for local channels.

We just set up in Idaho Falls, ID for the next 10 days and Dish nicely moved my service address to get the IF locals. OK so far but looking through my daily recording schedule I noticed that two of the programs I want are not being broadcast by the local ABC affiliate. Now I know from prior experience that once I have the I.F. locals I will continue to get them all the way to Boise and down into northern NV. Since my next stops will be the Boise area and Jackpot, NV this kind of makes sense.

So, with that in mind I was thinking about asking dish to move my feed to the Boise locals but, when I looked a a Dish spot map it appears there are three different spot beam that cover Boise but only one that covers both. Since most of the CS reps I get on the phone only follow a scrip I'm hesitant to make the call until I have a better handle on just how these spot beam really work and what I really should ask Dish.

Appreciate any thoughts on this subject. It's not a critical issue of course but an intriguing one.

I have used service locations from time time that will cover more than one stop, but it varies quite a bit as to which spot beam on which satellite will get the job done within the available line of sight. According to this listing, Boise is served by the 129 sat's spot beam 11 in HD, and the 110 sat's spot beam 41 for SD. Idaho Falls would be pretty deep fringe for either one, and may not receive them. Spot beams 12 and 37 on those two sats serve the Idaho Falls market and also reach Boise it appears, but that's where you already have a problem with the programming.

We would lose our local stations almost as soon as we left our local ZIP CODE areas...

We now use the NATL BROADCAST from the local towns to get our fill of local stations where we go...

They are all transmitted in high def HDTV digital TV now and all perfect signals or nothing at at all...

Each station loaction can transmit up to six channels and this is usually filled with WX radar 24/7 and lots of old movie and past TV series like Gun Smoke and MASH etc...

We get outstanding results using our UHF crankup BATWING antenna to pick up these local town transmissions...

Our SAT TV was bringing along the spare SAT RCVR and a SAT DISH tripod... Now we don't bring those along anymore and just tune in the FREE CLEAR HDTV signals from the local towns...
