I don't understand your point. I am in favor of carrying a spare or at least an unmounted spare tire as well as carrying a fire extinguisher.
when I had my blowout I was able to pull onto the shoulder and fortunately I was at an exit ramp so was able to get out of traffic. the first question the service asked was are you in any danger, are you in a safe location, etc. then we relaxed, had lunch, until the service truck arrived. Since I had a spare I didn't have to pay that $500 for an out of date, mis sized tire.
Now if I would have a fire, I would grab that fire extinguisher, snuff the fire and all ends well, hopefully.
