Do you carry a ladder?

Hello everyone,

Do you carry a ladder with you, not speaking of the ladder that is attached to the moho? If yes which ladder do you own and what do you use it for?

Which one of these would you recommend from camping world?

Telescoping 6' Extension Ladder, converts from a 6 ft "A" from to 12 ft extension:

Or

12.5 Foot Telescoping Extension Ladder, 12.5 foot extension:

Thanks,

Stuart
  • Yes this one. It folds small enough to fit inside a 4 1/2 x4 1/2 plastic fence post in the cellar of the MH. We bought the 7 footer. We also bought the red top for it.

We have that one plus a 3-step folding step stool. Rarely use the 7 footer. Often use the step stool.

  • I didn't carry one for years. Earlier this year my door awning would not retract, and I was boondocking in Anza Borego. Long story short, I had to drive and find someone who had a ladder so we could close it and ziptie it closed so I could get back home. I now carry one. I may not need it again, but it sure beats not having one and needing it.
I bought this one 7' double sided ladder as you never know when you need 4 hands. I doubt it is recommended to have 2 adults one it, but when you need another set of hands I will chance it.
  • Yes. A 12 ft. extension ladder that collapses to less than 3 ft and is made of aluminum. You can get them at Camping World or Amazon.
  • Yes, we carry a folding ladder that when straight, is 16 feet long and a 6 foot collapsable step ladder.

I've used both of them many times, but then I try and fix anything that goes wrong so I'm up on the roof from time to time.

Although we are only half-timing now, we tend to take trips that last months instead of short trips. This means we are often at a distance from the one shop that I trust (where they know what they are doing, and allow me to stick my nose into every activity), so if something is up that needs a ladder, I want to have one.

BTW, both ladders are folding aluminum, so they don'e take up much space or add much weight.

Yes. This one. Mostly to put up windshield, driver's side and passenger side sun shade. I have used it for occasionally checking things on the sides.
