I am from the old school and in times when I did not have wood planks, I always pushed removed wheel under the vehicle. Maybe not the best safety, but I had a chance for survival.
Years ago I had 5-tons HD jack stand.
My bus conversion is 15 tons total, so I figured out that the rear corner should not exceed 5 tons.
Lifted the coach with hydraulic jack and then open the valve to lower it on the stand.
The coach body kept going down, splitting the 5-tons stand with no visible resistance.
I figure out that the jacks and stands are rated similar to winches, who have "rolling capacity"
So 5-tons rated stand is design for vehicle weighing 5-tons TOTAL or 1.25t a corner with some safety margin.
