Jayco issues third safety recall notice this year relating to motorhomes
Jayco has announced a safety recall in relation to a number of its motorhomes and fifth-wheel caravans, which were discontinued recently.
Australia’s largest RV manufacturer is recalling 94 motorhomes and fifth-wheelers with chassis numbers between S20001 and T90194.
Jayco said the defect relates to a 240V power point positioned “too close to the ensuite sink and (that) does not comply with the standard.
“If water is splashed onto the power point it may cause an electric shock hazard.”
Owners of affected models should “call your closest Jayco Dealer or Jayco Authorised Service agent and book your van in for inspection and possible rectification.”
It’s the third safety recall this year, and the second this month from Jayco in relation to its range of motorhomes.
Earlier this month Jayco recalled 1463 campervans (with chassis numbers between T12203 and U19103) with a potentially faulty roof lifting system that could drop up to 450mm during opening or closing operations and “pose a potential crushing hazard to hands or limbs”.
In February, a recall was also issued due to a potential problem with a seatbelt not working properly. The affected Jayco motorhomes had selected chassis numbers between 605454 and T90180.
“The seat belt bolt in the rear compartment section of the motorhome may work itself loose over time,” Jayco said at the time. “Should the bolt become loose, there is a risk of the seat belt not operating correctly for any passengers seated in the rear cabin area.”
