Do you turn your water off?

We were driving out of the park today and saw a nice unoccupied Tiffin MH with water pouring from under the door. We stopped, turned their water off and notified management. When we returned from town the MH was gone so don't know what caused the flood.

It got me thinking. I don't turn off water when I am away. Should I?

How many of you turn your water off when away?
  • I turn the water off if we are away from the RV.
    Justin Case.
  • Although I have never had a problem, I always turn the MOHO water off if we leave the rig. I even turn it off at the house if I'm gone more than a day.

  • We didn't...........until!!!!

May of 2012 we were at Devil's Tower KOA.......got up at 6am to the living room/kitchen and both slides 2" deep in water with it flowing out bottom of slides.
It even flooded 2 sites. $6000 in repairs.

We now turn off water when away.........but our leak happened when sleeping
Leak was due to factory use of a hose clamp on pump discharge line where the flex line connected to plumbing system. :S

I don't have ANY hose clamps on ANY plumbing lines anymore!!!!! Errrgghhhh!

But we do turn off water when we leave......just because :B
  • I developed that habit of turning the water off when we stayed at World Traveler RV Resort in San Antonio, Tx. They have extremely high water pressure at that park and ever warn you about it. Figured it best to turn it off when we were out touring San Antonio, and have done it ever since. So now every time we get in the toad to go somewhere, the water gets turned off.
  • I've never even considered something like that could happen, so
no, we've not ever turned off the water spigot when we're hooked
    up to "city" water.

Makes me think about it though after reading your post though.

What a shock for that MH owner when they arrived home, eh?
