Does furnace need propane to work?

I had this problem with my water heater. It turned out to be carbon build up in the ignitor tube. I just took a hair dryer and blew out the entire area and no more problem. Lots of black powdery gunk came out when I blew it out.

I think the term 'pilot light' has become synonymous with 'burner flame.'

Made contact with them this morning. They said they were able to get the heat going buy resetting a gas detector switch. But they said also the Water Heater will not stay lit so they have no Hot Water. They are luckily at an RV park with showers so they can do that. I'll have to troubleshoot it when I get it back on Sunday night. Thanks everyone for your help.

To reset the regulator valve, I typically have to:
1. shut off the tanks vavles f
2. go inside and open a stove burner to relieve the pressure (2-3 minutes)
3. close stove valve
4. open tank valve slowly

I'v had to do this on my TT and on a gas smoker and it worked for me.

Like iraqvet05 posted, could be that valve was opened too fast. I would close propane valve and open it slower. Sometimes when my water heater hasn't been used and propane has been shut off I have to switch water heater off and on again a couple of times before it starts. Most propane appliances today don't have a pilot. It is electronic start. Are they trying to light a pilot that isn't there? The post is a little confusing. Furnace, water heater, or A/C electric heat pump? Would be more helpful if they were more specific.

I would have them make friends with another MH camper in the park and ask for their help. :S

How do you reset a valve? Also it is a DSI. When you turn on the Hot Water Heater you can hear the ignighter clicking then the propane burning.

So with the Furnace you do not have a pilot? How does it light? How do you know? I usually just hear the heat blowing out of the floor vents.

Sucks trying to figure this out from a distance. Guess this is what I get for being nice and letting them use it. It's 36 degrees in Yellowstone right now. I feel bad there freezing.
