Last weekend while putting everything up to leave, I let the pull strap get away from the pull rod while rolling it up and now my strap is rolled up in the awning. Is there a way of getting strap back...

Easy...release the lock like you normally do, then just climb up on a ladder and un-roll your awning by hand until you can locate the strap.
