Don't buy a Thor product

Do not buy a Thor product.
We bought a new 2018 Thor Quantum in the fall. When it came in on Nov. 1 there were 8 major problems like a crack all the way across the table, a broken window, 2 dents in the floor, chip paint on the outside, etc. It was taken care of at the dealer and we finally got it and left MA in December. Since then we have had 17 other major problems including 2 times when the refrigerator hasn't work, a tv the doesn't work, water coming into the bathroom and bedroom when I used the black water cleanout system, a stove that had a gas leak. I can go on and on. But Thor response is for us to just keep going back to get service and for us to pay to stay in hotels for a couple of day and pay for our own food, gas etc. In 6 weeks living in the vehicle we have not had 1 day when everything works, and on the several occasions when I call Thor they don't seem to really care beyond a general "sorry to hear that".

  • First post rant. Let's see if he ever posts again. Color me skeptical.
  • This sounds like another example of why it's better to buy a used RV. At least with them you expect to have some problems and you can use the money you saved not buying new to get the problems solved and still come out ahead.
  • That's a worse record than most but RV's in general are junk compared to other expensive things, like cars.
I honestly don't mean to make light of your issues but my suggestion is to roll with it and don't let it bother you too much. Compared to the folks with walls separating from ceiling and massive water damage, your items are rather minor and they are taking care of them.
Heck, my own new trailer just had its entire roof replaced because of an oversight. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it (well maybe a little but not much).

By the way, welcome to the forum!

  • yep sounds about right for them. I was going to buy a MH until I heard thor bought them out
  • Welcome. Hopefully they can get things worked out for you soon. I just bought a new TT myself and I'm expecting some problems when we can use it in spring. A day or two wait to have service work done is very good.
  • Shows again the great need for a inspection check list, including use of every system, completed before any money changes hands.
