door locks

I have 2007 39v Discover Fleetwood motorhome. Went to check it out this morning, couldn't get in. Locks unlocked, door lack wouldn't pull pin so, I couldn't open door. ( any suggestions )

Call your ERS for a locksmith.
  • Which Goldsboro?
Is it freezing? Lock could be just frozen. Use hair dry to warm up latch.
Did you try pushing in on door while operating latch?
  • or heat key with flame or hair dryer and try again. You may want to use a glove to hold the hot key!
  • Don't know if this applies to you but the plastic door lock on an entry door are unreliable and will lock you out, and if it comes apart inside the door, and you are in the coach, it will lock you in the coach. Then you get to take the door apart from the inside, with the tools available to you, and fix the door in order to get out. Been there, done that.

Anyway, one "ace in the hole" is to not latch the window by the driver's seat, or another window. That way if locked in or out, you can open the window and get in or out of the coach in an emergency.

I know that gives up some security, but it covers you if you lock your keys in the coach or if the door lock goes kaput.

Extra set of keys in gen set bay or hidden somewhere on coach has also been done.

Not saying I do this or that you should, just food for thought.
  • got in through exit window, happen to have left bed slide out. door opened easily from inside. think door works need lubing.

If it is a Tri-Mark lock like the one on my Damon.. Major pain in the operating system when that happens.

I was able to take a special "pick" (of the kind used to remove main seals by mechanics This one was "L" shaped) and depress the striker bolt and open the door, then remove the lock assembly and replace.

I'm not too thrilled with Tri-mark quality.
