Down sizing advice / dp to gas

Hello all, I have a 2006 41' Monaco knight that I have had for approx. 3 years. I have been trying to talk my wife into a smaller rig since we have never put more than 2500 miles in a year. I really wanted to trade down to a trailer but the wife doesn't want any part of that. She does agree on downsizing to a gas class A. I'm trying to find out if I would be better off or not. My diesel pusher has been well maintained but needs tires. It is bigger than I originally wanted but after searching for a few years, it was worth the money, had no signs of water damage and was found at a dealership that we had good luck with. We do like the floor plans on the gas motorhomes nicer than my diesel. So, if I was to trade from a diesel pusher down to a gas class A, what brands should we be looking at? I like Winnebago adventurers but they are very pricey. We like the looks and floor plans of the Georgetown class A but don't know how the quality is. I am looking in the 35 to 37' range. Any input would be appreciated.

  • I would recommend Newmar, Tiffin and Winnebago/Itasca. We also liked Thor's. Worth a look IMO but the fit and finish wasn't the same as the first three I mentioned. Of course, I'm biased towards Newmar. :B BTW, our rig is a 33 footer with one full wall slide. Click the link in my sig for details.
  • We just got an Itasca Sunstar 36D and love it. We had a Montana 5th almost 38' long plus truck and before that a HR Endeavor 40PDQ. We like the fact that at 36' we can get into almost any place we want. It has the F53 and it's a beast going up mountains and the grade breaking works well on the Torqshift.

    I downsized from a 40' DP to a 30' Winnebago Vista. Couldn't be happier.

    Stick with Winnebago. Good luck!
