drivers seat adjustment

Can anyone tell us how to get the captains seat in a 2004 Fleetwood Providence to push back for more leg room? We can't seem to find the correct lever. As you can tell we are new to our RV.

  • How about the pedals, do you have adjustable pedals? If so, move them forward.
  • My MH is not a Provedance but is a 2004 Southwind and it has electric seats, the controls are on the right side of the seat. To slide forward or backward, you move the seat lever toward the front or rear. The problem is it won't slide back very far because the slide out is in the way. I partialy solved the problem by tilting the steering wheel up and then raising the seat and this gives you more leg room, You kind of drive bus driver style like "Ralph Cramden" in the honeymooners. Works for me but I am only 5' 11" tall.
  • The other issue that may occur is bumping up against the slideout wall. When mine are in, as they usually are when we are traveling, the rear travel of the captains seats is limited. This was also true on our former coach - a Southwind, but only on DS as there was no PS slideout.
  • I'd be very surprised if your Providence didn't have power Flexsteel chairs which will have a little joystick on the right side of the seat - you just push it back and the seat will go back.

That said, I'm not sure how reliable they are. In our old 98 Pace Arrow, I kept having to jiggle the plug for it to work properly and it would stop working all the time and it would blow the fuse all the time (I eventually put a slightly large fuse in and it seems to be fine now (maybe the motor is getting old / worn and it's pulling more amperage)). We also had a 99 Tradewinds and that had blown fuses or something but I was eventually able to get that one working too and finally when we bought our 03 Phaeton, the connector to the power seat was off (no idea why, if it just simply came loose).
  • If your seat is electric the adjustment buttons/switches should be on the right hand side of the seat and there should be some wires that go thru under the carpet.
  • Are they automatic or manual adjust? Manual is usually under the seat.
