driving speed

How fast do you fellow class Aer's drive? If you have good road conditions and are towing, how fast would you go? I am new to class A's, Very comfortable driving, My last trip I was averaging about 61mph towing. Looking for some insight from o you more experienced folks. I have Precept 35UN, gas, Ford V10, and towing a dolly with a Ford Fusion on it.
Thanks!

  • Thanks! I rarely pass someone unless they are going way too slow, We also enjoy the scenery, After all we have this huge windshield, might as well get the pleasure out of it! Another question, Do you put a "car in tow" sign on your towed vehicle?
  • 65 or the speed limit whichever is slower. Occasional burst for passing but seldom exceed 80 mph.

One thing I've always had some difficulty with is keeping the speed low when not using CC. These things are so bloody smooth and quiet there is very little sensation of speed so creeping up to 70-75 is real easy.
  • 60-64 on the interstate. I prefer to travel the side roads when possible. I can go slower and there is more to see.
I think many RVers travel at or below the speed limit, that seems to give the best MPG.
You may also hear about the Type A, high strung people who brag about driving/towing at 80+ mph. They are more concerned about getting from point A to point B and don't enjoy the scenery.
Drive at a speed that you are comfortable with, just don't hold up traffic by going too slow. Pull off and let traffic get around you if traveling on two lane roads.
  • I have roughly the same set up (F53 w/ v10 class A) and hover between 60-63 on good 4 lane. Keep it at 55 elsewhere on 2 lane and always below posted. Can't remember busting 65 with the dolly and toad- especially since the dolly has ST's rated at no more than 65
  • the speed limit, up to 65. 70-75 if absolutely necessary to pass.
  • Usually 62-63, which will provide 50 MPH overall. Do that th current coach and our pusher before. Our HHR that we you has 65 MPH speed limit when towing, and what's the hurry?
