Our Class C has dually wheels.Hubby can get to them (with difficulty) to air up...but he has huge hands and there is cussing and spitting to get some air in our class c. I tried it (much smaller hands) and it is a pain. Any ideas on this. The valve extension reviews are not good (leakage).Donna

In my experience, the only ones that are a real pain are the outside ones with the stems pointing towards the BACK of the wheel pair.That is a convention copied from tractor-trailers so that any wheel/tire can be used in any position......and one spare can be used for ALL of them.On an RV that is ridiculous.I have mine modified with a short, straight stem on the two outside tires.That eliminates about 90% of the problem.So, then you can not switch that wheel to the inside of a pair.So what......BIG DEAL. I can't see a good reason that you would NEED to do that anytime.K.I.S.S.P.S. My "truck" tire shop thought that was an unusual request.I told them "IF you can tell me any good reason that is NOT a good idea, then I will leave them alone." They changed them out......and agreed it was a good idea for an RV.P.S.S. Before that I tried valve stem "extensions" and they CAUSED tires to go flat twice before I threw them away.

One route to go on getting curved stems installed:I got mine here: https://www.shinyrv.com/product/dually-valve-stems-for-motorhomes-with-alcoa-wheels-2-hand-hole-dl4ac/ If you call them at 714-642-3646 they will know the exact curvature you need etc and will ship them to your door. You may save a few bucks shopping around but this was sure handy for me. The hardware I got included the rubber inserts to stabilize the longer stem so no worry with installing a tire pressure monitor sensor at that location.As enblethen posted, any truck tire shop will install them. I used Les Schwab............. about $85 IIRC.One of the downsides: The inside dual will have a valve stem that is too long for spin balancing. I just installed Centramatics on the rears but you could have the tire shop use beads.Good luck with the upgrade...... and save travels to ya.You will be very happy with the results.

I have standard valve stems, I installed valve stem caps that cover the stem yet allow air to go into the tire and use long reach air chuck and tire gauge. No problem. Add a drop of paint pen on the rim where the inside stem is so you know where it is.

Really folks.....for the 95% or so of owners who do NOT rotate their tires.....just put a short, straight stem on your outside dual and be done with it.

Simple, cheap and easy.

I guess I'm a rare breed. It seems like a really cheap cost to get them inspected and rotated. Because of that, I never understood why a person would install a valve in the rim that was tire position specific since it would no longer serve it's purpose when tire is moved to another location. But, if rotating tires isn't something most RVers do, guess that answers my question.

While the Borg/Tireman extensions are the way to go for many folks, this has been my method for a decade:

Kit:

Small metal extensions - tighten the inner fitting with small pliers. I've never had a leak with these on both our Ford (shown) and our current Sunseeker based on the Chevrolet 4500:

Leave the inner dual as is - no need to add an extension:

Using the short piece of hose, remove the inner valve cap:

Result:

Check the pressure with the double footed gauge:

If it needs air, temporarily use an extender. The female end fitting is fixed; it does not spin on the hose, so it can be spun on using the hose:

Result:

Attach your compressor, and add air as needed:

BTW, I'm one of those 5% who DO rotate tires! I don't remove all of them - I just lift the desired axles, but I did remove all when Michelin had a recall a few years back:

I have almost lost a very expensive $400 tire using extensions and possibly lost a tire due to an extension on a vehicle I had just purchased. So I am not a big fan of extensions. Even the quality ones with beaded stainless steel are cheap rubber inside!

I bought a TPMS system with the type of sensor that mounts to the end of the valve stem. It is a real struggle to get the sensor on and off through that little hole to add air to the tire. Even my wife with her child sized hands has an issue with it. So I threw in the towel and use the braided flexible extensions for the inner duallys with the sensors attached to the extensions. At least if they leak the TPMS will notify me.

From years of experience..go to a shop. Buy tires from them. They will check the air pressure and rotate without a charge. Have an Emergency Road Service contract. If you ever have a flat, they'll come and do the job. Women would never, ever put themselves in jeopardy messing with tires and jacks. Men...not so much.

I and a number acquaintances have Borg dually solid valve stems on our small class C RVs ... they are well worth it!!

I've tried 3 varieties of truck stem extensions, they've always resulted in air loss, with 1 where I got stuck for 2 days in a parking lot. Now we just go to a tire shop (where our tires are from) and ask them to check/ fill. I carry 2 chucks and check air regularly, but time box how many minutes i fight with the dually inners before I ask Firestone to help. Most guys say the pressure doesn't fluctuate much, and that's what I've also found.

i put a system on mine that airs up both tires at the same time and tells me if they are low 125$ installed
