dulles airport

Anyone know of a campground near dulles? I will be comeing in on I-66 from I 81 and will be going out same way the next day. wrong area of the world to overnight at camp walleymart.
  • MS S&T lists four, greenville farm, bull run, lake fairfax, reines rv center.
    bumpy
  • Bull Run in Manassas would be your closest and do offer full hookup. It's about about a 12 miles up RT28 to the airport.

Greenville Farm is your next bet and just a little further west in Haymarket.

Lake Fairfax is up north east of the airport from I66 north of the toll road.
  • Staying at a Walmart would not bother me at all. Remember- They have very strict gun laws in DC so I am sure all of the bad guys have disarmed. :)

In all seriousness- I think you would be perfectly safe in your moho at Walmart.
  • Closer than Haymarket is one in Gainesville, VA. Hillwood didn't take reservations when we stayed there, but did have quite a few open spaces when we stayed. Our DS even brought his TT and moved in across from us.
  • Fly Boy Dulles happens to be about 35-40mi from DC in Virginia which has very liberal concealed carry laws thus a much lower crime rate than DC----I wouldn't think nothing of staying at a Walmart in that area as for the most part it is as safe as any where out in the country.
  • Back in Dec, Hillwood was tarp city. Mostly full-time/local area workers. Greenville Farms is a working farm with hookups not much else. Bull Run is a nice regional park. Limited large rig sites. Do not run out of supplies if you do not have a toad!
  • My daughter lives near Dulles & we've stayed at Lake Fairfax County Park twice. It's a very nice park and reasoably priced. It's about 3 miles from the Dulles Airport Access road and 10 miles from the actual airport. It shows up on Streets & Trips software.
