Dummy move of the week.

Our dumb move may help others down the road -We pulled into campsite
(a fl state park) and noticed the branches were low but we cleared them by about a inch -NO problem ,backed in and got set for the evening meal and Nascar Qualifying that night -Well a storm came up over night and it poured, but by morning everything was starting to dry up,We loaded everything ,raised the jacks and pulled out headed for our next campground,since our LP gas was low we decided to stop at the next Camping World for a LP fillup-When we got there a worker notified us we had a tear in the roof-We figured all the rain weighted the branches down and the inch or so clearance we thought we had was gone-Dicor tape saved our 71 day trip and we our lined up to have a new roof put on ,thank God for insurance $6300.oo to replace roof-Rich

I had my moment yesterday. Went to disconnect the toad and pulled one pin and lifted arm out of the way. Tried to pull the other side while on the inside but could not get a good grip on it to pull out. Decided to go over the arm to pull pin from out side. Did not lift leg high enough and hit the ground like a ton of bricks. Busted elbow and knees as I went down on the gravel and bruised back of leg that cam crashing down on arm of tow bar. Today had sore arm and neck. Next time I will remember to walk around to get to the pin.

It's a very common name.

Glen, that's a pretty good slope on the driveway. If your tank is mounted longways in the motorhome and is a shallow tank, I can see how the intake may be high and dry with that slope while the tank has water in it. My tank is mounted across the motorhome and the intake for the plumping is on one side, so a severe side slope could leave me dry too with some water left in the tank. And like you said if your sensor is at one end with the intake at the other, it's possible with the slope the sensor could should full while the intake was out of the water.

I joined the 'dummy' club way back in 2008 when we were stopped at the KOA at the Ghost Town KOA in Yermo, CA. After putting out the slides I thought it was time to disconnect the Honda and started walking back along the driver's side of the coach.

The rear bedroom slide is high and I was looking down as not to trip on anything. Well, I konked my head on the corner of the slide and just about knocked myself out. I fell to the ground on my knees seeing stars. I went inside to lie down on the sofa with an ice pack on my forehead thinking that I was going to have a big fat knot.

Well, I just had a minor cut thank goodness, not much blood. But, my co-pilot comes in and says, "what happened to your knees"? When I fell to the ground I scraped my kness on the sandy surface and they were both bleeding. So, two big patches on my knees and a bandaid on my forehead.

Live and learn.... always wear a hat around a motorhome!!

While we were at Pismo this weekend some relatives came over to the RV. My cousin was looking around and saw a near by motorhome that had pipe insulators stuck on the sides of the slides. He asked me about them and I said that was somebody who had split their head open on the slides. He asked why I didn't have them and I pointed out that I haven't split my head open yet. You wait until you do it once before using the padding.

Had one tonight.

The water tank read 3/4 full.

No water came out of any of the taps.

RV was on a slope

Water pickup was at the rear of the tank sensor at the front.

Pickup was out of the water.

Took the whole system apart tiring to find the problem.

Ok...Learned some more stuff today/night.

When I put the MH into storage a mouth ago the water system was working fine.

I thought it would be a good idea to drain the tank while it sat.

Filled the tank today, and everything works off shore water.

Closed the bypass, disconnect the water, the pump runs but no water anywhere.

It seems to build air pressure, let it run and open a valve and air comes out for a short time.

It acts like the pump suction from the tank is not under water (tank is 3/4 full).



I got ambitious, took the covers of the water station.



The filter is not clogged, the pump sucks on the suction side and builds pressure on the pressure side.



Traced the plumbing and the feed line comes through the wall and appears to go into the bottom of the tank.

Removed that fitting and there is no water, tapped along the tank and the tank seems to be empty.



So I hooked things back up and filled until I got water out the over flow. The gauge read FULL a long time before the water came out of the over flow.

Are there internal baffles in the tank?

The only thing I can think is the sensor is at the front of the tank, the tank is very shallow and long (runs the entire length of the basement roof between the frame rails), and the RV is in my driveway which has a pretty good slope.



I'm starting to learn a lot about the systems in this RV.

I left the tank full, I'm sure now I will have a leak out of one of the fittings, I hate plumbing.

I'll check everything in the morning, if no leaks put it all back together. If not will have to drain the system, clean the fittings, use a little Teflon sealant on the inside of the pipe where it goes around the nipple. These are plastic fittings and only get tightened to three foot pounds.
