You are about average and it will not get any better. There is a running myth in some Ford circles that the Ford V-10 improves mpg and "wakes up" (whatever that supposed to mean) after a break in period but it's total nonsense. What you will find is that around 1900-2000 rpm's is the sweet spot, depending on rear gear, for MPG's and responsiveness.
