E450 won't start
I went to the place where I store my RV, a 2008 Sunseeker with E450 gas engine, yesterday. I had been there a couple of weeks ago and tried to start it, and eventhough the dash lights etc came on it wouldn't start, just some clicking. I thought that the solar trickle charger I have been using for 2+ years went bad and maybe the battery was low.
So I returned with my battery charger/starter...battery was fine...the alternator check function on the charger said there was a problem however. Does the alternator need to be functional for the engine to start?!? Of course, I was planning to use the holiday weekend to ready my rig for summer...no mechanics available. UGH!
Anyone have thoughts? Trouble shooting or diagnostic tips are all welcome.
I am (have become) pretty good at the repairs for the RV systems...engines, not so much. Sure wish Dad had been more of a car/engine guy than a home fix-it guy sometimes.
