Electric panel and stuck slide

My 2016 Itasca has been out only three times. Second time out the slide where bench is came out crooked. Called Winnebago and they told us to toggle switch to get it in. Then service fixed it. That was Four weeks ago. Our third trip got to campground and same slide came out about 6". My hubby on phone all afternoon, finally someone from Iowa is getting someone here in Louisianna to come manually put in back in Turesday. Last night smelled wire burning under bed. It's the electric panel area. Everything was running including air conditioner. We immediately unplugged electric from outside. our trip here approximately 750 miles I noticed hot water. Hot water switches were off. We also have water coming in while driving at that slide. Anyway if we can get the slide back in, can we use the generator with this bad electric panel. We are in hot Louisianna wanting to get back home to even hotter Florida. Anyone with similar issue, please help. Thank You, Mema

  • Agreed. Until someone determines what is wrong with the electrical system do not use any power.

At this point, you do not know if the issue is before the ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch) or after.

If before ATS (i.e. in shore power cord or wiring from coach inlet to ATS) generator use is fine.

BUT, if in the ATS or after the ATS, NO WAY, as generator feeds the exact same wires as shore power!
  • No, do not use genset. It uses the same electrical panel as shore power.
An experienced person needs to check out panel. It could be just a loose connection.
