They work partially as intended. If you turn the ignition on, they retract. With the ignition on and you then open the door, they go down. Ignition still on and you close the door, they retract.
When you turn the ignition off and open the door, they go down. Close the door, they do nothing (stay down). Doesn't matter if you have the switch on or off, they do not retract when you close the door, until you turn the ignition to the on position to start up the RV.
