I replaced my magnet. Found one in a security alarm that fit in the door way better. Had to reseat the switch as well. You may have to get new double face tape. If checking/adjusting the magnet does not solve the issue, trace the wires and check the wall switch, wiring and motor. Be careful to not to get your fingers in the steps. You could break or lose one if if they close in your hand.
