Electric Tank Blankets

I've previously asked a question about "Winterizing" an RV - and have recently received emails from Camping World advertising electric water tank blankets

Does anyone have experience of fitting these?

How many do you need?

Clearly you would need one for your potable fresh water tank - but do you also need them for either black or grey waste tanks?

If you use them do you power them from the RV's internal A/C - or plug them into a spare A/C socket in your shoreside power pedestal?

Chris
  • Tank blankets are not a substitute for winterizing if you're in a cold climate and not usig the RV. Tank blankets will keep tank contents from freezing but do nothing for all the water lines and drain outlets.
  • If the tank area is not heated and enclosed you need heaters for all tanks as well as for the valves and elbows.

Some of them are dual voltage--12 volt while traveling and 120 volt at a campground.

I would make mine a flexible install as there is not always an extra outlet on the pedestal.
