Enclosed trailer specs to haul motorcycle & golf cart

What size enclosed trailer recommended to haul motorcycle and golf cart together in the same enclosed trailer? Anyone out there do this now and if so would really appreciate pictures of how you set it up. I realize you need dimensions of bot. While I have the bike and can figure out the needs for length, I don't have a golf cart yet and looking to purchase one. However, before I do, I want to make sure I get a trailer big enough to haul both. Anybody have experience setting up a trailer to haul both and if so, what size trailer do you have? Thanks!
  • I've got a 6' wide x 12' long x 7' tall enclosed trailer that I haul my Road King Classic in. Except for a little walk around space, it's pretty much full when the bike's in there. There is a little space at the rear once the bike is in place and some at the nose. You can go from there to extrapolate the dimensions you need. I would suggest you go, with your bike and golf cart, to a local place that sells trailers and try them out. Get one that is wide enough to walk around your equipment inside so you can strap it down easier....plus, you might be able to see it in the mirror when towing....I can't see mine unless I turn on the backup camera. I would suggest that you get the flush-mount floor tie downs and put more of them than you think you'll need. You'll also need a front wheel chock for the bike mounted to the floor or at least setup so you can put it in and remove it. Get a V-nose or rounded nose trailer....they pull better and you have a little extra room for "stuff" in the nose area.

    Hope that helps!
  • I can't tell you what size to buy but I can advise on the bike. If you tie it "down" you're pulling pressure on the fork and shock seals while tied. Not a good idea for long term. I installed some railing from Northern tools on the sidewalls. I cut a 2x4 that goes from side to side of the trailer and fits in these brackets that latch in the side rails. Then I installed eye bolts in the 2x4 and tie the bikes forks to those eye bolts. I also strap the tires to the floor. That way there's no pressure on the fork seals.

I tow two bikes, a Versys 1000 and a Honda NC700X (one forward and one backed in) plus a tool cart that mounted to the floor, Trailer dolly and a small air compressor. Then all the extra RV stuff like chairs, tarps etc are mounted to the walls, ceiling and doors. That's all in a 10 footer!

V nose trailers are nice. Look for LED lights and rear ramp door. The big box stores sell them but better deals are out there. Craigslist is a good place to look.

Upgrade the tires! Most come with **** tires.

Also rear legs are nice so you can load and unload while unhooked. Otherwise the trailer does wheelies when loading. Might ever take off rolling on you.
  • using a 8.5' wide trailer you can place all but the largest bikes sideways 1 in front and 1 in back.

Our problem was finding a trailer tall enough for our jacked up jeep.
  • I have an 8.5x20 and haul Harley streetglide and 4 offroad bikes or side by side and 5 offroad bikes. I would be able to haul what you want with room to spare.
  • cruiser type motorcycle generally about 3ft.wide x 8ft. golf cart are about 50in. wide and 8ft. or 9 ft. long depending if 2 or 4 passenger so putting them side by side might be possible but tight with 7.5 inside width. If one behind the other 16 with v nose might work. I assume this is your question .I have no first hand experience . good luck.
  • I would go with a 8.5 X 24, that way you shouldn't have too many limitations on the golf cart you want.

I have a 20' and haul a Yamaha Rhino, with custom bumper and rack on the back it is 11', plus I have a 30" work bench and cabinets in the front then room to haul 3 dirt bikes, sideways, wishing I had more room.
  • Buy at least one size bigger than you think you need. I have an 8.5 x 20 and while it keeps me under 65' I wish it was 2 - 4 foot longer.

I fit a Polaris ranger and a Polaris rzrs with about 6" to spare.
  • Most enclosed trailers are not tall enough to get a golf cart in without taking the top off the cart. If you find one tall enough, it would need to be at least 24' long. You would need enough room to move around and strap them down.
