I was going to say just this. If they would put two guys on it and let them work it should only take a couple of days. Assuming they are actively working, then the only delay should be in waiting for parts.

You may contact your roadside assistance carrier and explain the situation to them. They may agree to move your vehicle to another shop or pressure this shop if CoachNet, or whoever you did use, chose this shop for repair.

If it has gone into days already and the engine is still in the MH, they facility is just using your engine work as fill in work. They tinker with it when they have nothing else to do. Time to have a real sit down talk with the owner and vent your frustrations and discuss his future intentions.

I knew a fellow who had to get his V10 Fords pulled. He opted for a Ford dealership who worked on RV's and he paid more per hour but was amazed how they went to town on on the job as it was not a learning experience for them.;)

I had the 460 out of my ol Bounder in 8 days with a little help from a buddy. It came out the front. At 72, I don't work hard 8 hour days. I did this at home on my RV pad with a well equipped tool box, cherry picker & engine stand. Reasonably equipped for a DIYer bit not as equipped as a professional shop.
The shop doing your work is dragging their feet (or a$$).

What engine do you have? What happened to it? How do you know the whole engine needs replacement?

Don't know what year model or chassis you have. I had a 454 replaced in my 92 HR and the work took about two weeks. Just had a 350 replaced in my 93 Class B van and it took a month.
A lot depends on how things come apart and what the availability of parts is. Sometimes there is more involved than just replacing the engine.
I would ask lots of questions and stay involved in the process. Feel free to give me shout if you have questions about what they are telling you.

Is it a warranty job or you paying? How long has it been in the shop or should I say when did the pull it in to start the work. I would think after 3 weeks, if went in right away, they should have a game plan on what your motor needs and what route needs to be taken.

you need to talk to turbojimmy, he did an engine swap a year or so ago. 454 in an allegro I think

If you are heading toward week 3....... who decided the engine is bad? Just curious and like to start at the beginning of the story. What was it doing? Knocking?
