Entrance steps won't go out

1. Open and close the entry door with engine RUNNING
2. While opening the Door, observe the Amber step light underneath. IF the light goes on and off when opening and closing the door, the wiring and magnetic switches and power is correct.
3. With the Engine running, Open and Close the entry door. When you open WHACK the motor with a hammer. You may have to do this numerous times. Eventually the motor will operate. Then REPLACE the motor, as it will fail again.
4. Running the engine gets about 13.5 to 13.9 volts to the step. The higher voltage helps overcome the dead spot in the motor armature. Doug
