Entry step

Most entry step problems that I read on this forum are that they won't go out or won't go in. My step travels in and out but when it extends it does not want to stop. The motor tries to keep moving it out. It will chatter 4 or 5 times and then all is well. Any ideas? It is an LCI single step on 06 Monaco Windsor.
