Essex Aqua Hot Exhaust

According to code exhaust can't exit beneath a slideout for obvious safey reasons. When I was at Newmar doing the review for FMCA Magazine I noticed that they ducted their hydronic heat exhaust (they used Oasis, rather than AquaHot) out into the patio area between the bedroom and front slides. When I asked about that they told me they can't let it exit out the driverside due to the full wall slide.

Also, Newell does not exit out the roof. Newell has dual exhaust diffusers at the rear of the coach, a remnant of the Detroit 60 series days. They only use the right side for the Cummins ISX so they duct their generator and AquaHot exhaust out into the left diffuser. When at American Coach I noticed that they route their AquaHot exhaust out the back as well, using a separate tailpipe. All those bends were approved by AquaHot and in my opinion it's the best answer because it doesn't impact the patio area or your neighbor's patio area. Plus, you can leave a roof vent cracked open a bit without fear of an exhaust backdraft wafting back down into the coach, unlike a Bluebird Wanderlodge with the roof stack.

Oh! well that explains that...mine is "beyond the periphery of the vehicle"..and it was standard equipment on the Executive....can't believe some numbskull would exhaust the unit under a slide....but...Dennis

ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES MANUFACTURED WITH OPTIONAL AQUA HOT HYDRONIC HEATERS, THE EXHAUST TERMINATION FOR THE HEATER WAS LOCATED UNDER THE BEDROOM SLIDE OUT, WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN PLACED BEYOND THE PERIPHERY OF THE VEHICLE.

Mine's on street side as well, right behind plumbing bay, just in front of drive wheels.

I also modified my Genturi for my aqua hot. I have to service my aqua hot and I could smell fumes in the bathroom when it kicked on. Time for a tune up.

A cost effective way is to buy a Genturi exhaust from CW for just over $100. Or look online. Our AquaHot exhaust (diesel) is in the middle of our coach so when in any RV park and someone is next to us, we gas them out. Especially 5th wheels. So both for our own pleasure of being able to keep the windows on the drivers side open, and be good neighbors and do what we can to respect our neighbor and allow them to open windows, leave the door open or just sit out side we always put the exhaust system up.

Actually have 2 Genturi's. One for the Aqua Hot and another for the generator when dry camping. The only modification I had to make was grind out the exhaust tip just a little to fit the exhaust pipe for Genturi.

I looked at the 2014 Newmar King Air and noticed that the Aqua Hot exhaust was really hanging lower than it should. The exit should be close to the front of the drive axle, not in the middle of the coach. It looked like to me that it would be easy to damage it if there was a crest in the road or driveway, etc.

Of course the best exit is out the roof like on the Prevost coaches, Newell, etc. All and all, the wind direction will change everything no matter where it exits. If the windows are closed, there should be no problem.

We generally (really never) don't run the genny or AH diesel while sleeping. We'll just use our little electric heater so no fumes from anything. We'll use the electric feature for hot water.

Our AH system has the two stage electric element and if it's not too cold (40's OK), we can heat the coach from the electric side of the AH.

On my zephyr it's on driver side no window.
