I was aware about mirrors collisions while going to Mexico.
On roads in Baja, my both side mirror were sticking past the traffic lines.
With 6" of shoulder it did not give much margin for errors, but I develop a technique that after 1500 miles in Baja brought me home with unbroken mirrors.
