Exceptional Customer Service

Still doesn't make up for the time I waited at the checkout in the St Augustine, Fl CW store for 15 minutes. A full 15 minutes - I did look at my watch. No one ever asked if I needed help or anything. I know I was seen, but they were "to busy" doing nothing to check me out. All it takes is on bad apple in the bushel to spoil the rest. And in that case there were 3 bad apples messing around. Left the item at the checkout and found another area RV store that was more than happy to wait on me.

Actually, Most of them. Every major company tries to please their customers. It is how they survive. The service you received should be classified, not as exceptional, but normal. Which is why folks don't post when things go the way they are supposed to. It's normal.

That people think normal is exceptional. Is the troubling part.

Unfortunately, it does feel exceptional when a company does what it really should. I usually go into a situation where I need help gritting my teeth and expecting a fight.

It sounds like the rep was adhering to CW's policies. CW as a large company knows what is expected to remain competitive. A lot of what people complain about here stems from local employees operating outside of company culture (I hope).

Also, large retail shippers will never make the customer file a claim with the carrier over damaged merchandise because they know what a pain that is and want repeat business. It's MUCH better for them to happily take care of the customer and file the claim themselves.

It's a poor comment on customer service overall when a company does what it should and that is considered exceptional.

If it were damaged in transit it would be the carriers problem. I'm surprised the shipper would handle the claim.

What is, and what should be, is often separate by an enormous gorge. I much prefer to read posts about excellent (even if it should be expected) than reading about one person who had one bad experience.

I have found the Camping World customer service for internet orders always prompt and very satisfactory.

The local store in Denton Texas has also been very good and helpful. I have not had any service work done there. It is an hour and a half drive.
