I have a 2004 Fiesta,mines been like that for about 5 years now.Initially I tried metal screws but found that it interfered with the slide out operation.
Mine is definitely not from a leak. I've been keeping my eye on it,it;s not getting any worse so I just live with it.Have about 70,000 miles on it.
