external sat dish use

On my Winnebago Vista 2012 30T I have outside port for external satellite dish. I set up my vucube, got signal and connected to that port. I then connected the receiver in the upper cabinet to the external satellite port and got great signal on the living room TV. I setup second receiver in bedroom and no signal. I am thinking there is no way to split the external signal to the rear tv as the coax is already connected to the output from the rooftop satellite. If I am not correct I would appreciate any info you may have. Thanks.

  • If you have a rooftop dish that provides a signal to both tv's, why are you using an external vucube?
  • If your Vucube has 2 out puts then you need to use that second out put to run your second receiver. If you only have one out put then you can only run one receiver.

Yes, I get park cable on both tv's with antenna booster off. I get jack antenna on both tv's and I get satellite signal from rooftop dish on both tv's with separate receivers. I am just assuming the external satellite port is a direct coax to the outlet in overhead compartment and it can't be split without a powered multi-switch and they haven't done that as I have only one coax outlet in bedroom and that handles roof top sat, cable and ota.

Have you tired putting a splitter at the location where your rooftop dish coax is? in other words, combine the two coax cables with a splitter so that instead of JUST the rooftop Satellite antenna feeding the two boxes, both the rooftop and/or the remote satellite antenna are feeding both satellite boxes. This should be able to be done in the overhead compartment.
  • Sats2Go in Houston TX set up ours in our 2004 Country Coach. He put a splitter in the front before the Winegard box, then another splitter? in the back near the receiver. We now use the "input" button on the remote to get DirecTV satellite on the bedroom TV. Anyone needing satellite help in the Houston area, call Dave at Sats2Go. He is the satellite "guru"

Things sure have changed now with how the SAT TV works from just a few years back...

Never had any luck using the SAT CONNECTION jacks on the side of my various trailers for SAT TV. It was always an issue with the DC POWER needed to fire up the SAT DISH heads.

The only way I could get SAT TV to work without modifying things was to run separate RG cables from each of the two SAT DISH heads going to the living room and bedroom TV sets.

When the National Broadcast from local towns came out with digital TV I quit bringing all my SAT TV STUFF from the house along with us on trips. National Broadcast is free to the public and is full blown high def digital HDTV signals...

    Things keep progressing along...

  • You need to find your switching box, or other location in your coach that splits the signal from front to rear. Before you get to that switching box is where you will probably "split" your antenna signal to send it to the two satellite boxes.
I am assuming that you have reception on BOTH TV's when you hook up the SINGLE coax cable coming from the RV park. The single coax from your antenna is no different. It must be split before the switching box and sent to both satellite receivers to get a picture on both TV's.
